Help
Short answers for install, playback, library, and the problems that show up most often.
rocket_launch Getting started
Install from Google Play
Melolist is installed from Google Play. Open the listing, tap Install, and wait for the download to finish. Later versions arrive as Play updates on the same listing.
First launch
On the first open, allow access to audio files. Melolist scans the folders you permit and builds albums, artists, and songs on the device. You can start playback as soon as the first tracks appear.
Permissions
The app needs permission to read music on your device. It uses that access to list files, read tags, and show artwork embedded in those files. Playback does not require an account.
music_note Playback
Queue, shuffle, and repeat
Open Now Playing to shuffle, repeat, or skip. The queue lists what comes next. Drag a row to change the order. Removing a row only changes the queue, not the file on disk.
Lyrics
If a song has timed lyrics, the current line is highlighted. Tap a line to move playback there. Songs without a lyric file stay on the player screen.
Equalizer and sleep timer
The equalizer offers presets and a custom curve. The sleep timer stops playback after the duration you pick and fades the last few seconds. Both settings are under Playback in Settings.
Bluetooth and other outputs
Melolist plays through the output Android is using. Switch speakers or headphones from the system output picker, or from the output control on Now Playing when the device offers one.
library_music Library
Albums, artists, and playlists
The library groups songs by album and artist using file tags. Playlists are lists you create inside Melolist. Editing a playlist does not move or delete the audio file.
Search
Search looks through songs, albums, artists, and playlists already in the library. Results update as you type. A new file appears after the folder has been scanned.
Choose which folders to scan
Settings lists the folders Melolist is allowed to read. Add a folder when music lives outside the default music directory, such as a dedicated album folder. Rescan after you copy new files in.
build Troubleshooting
Songs do not appear after a scan
Confirm the folder is included in Settings and that Android still allows Melolist to read it. Then run Scan again. Files in an unsupported format, or in a folder that was not granted, stay hidden.
Playback stops when the app is in the background
Some phones stop audio to save battery. Exclude Melolist from battery optimization, and allow background activity for the app. Then start playback again.
No sound
Check the system volume, the media volume, and that the correct output is selected. If a Bluetooth device is connected but silent, disconnect it and play through the phone speaker to see which side is quiet.
Lyrics are missing or out of time
Melolist can only highlight lyrics when the track has timing data. A song with plain text, or no lyric tag at all, will not scroll line by line. Wrong timings come from the file itself.
Artwork is blank
Artwork is taken from the audio file. Tracks with no embedded image show a placeholder. Adding art means updating the file’s tags outside Melolist, then scanning that folder again.
The app will not update
Updates come from Google Play. Open Play, find Melolist, and tap Update if it is offered. If Play shows the app as current, that build is the latest one published.
